A flexible cooker hose and plug in connector Bayonet must be used to connect this type of gas cooker to the supply point. As a general rule the gas supply point should be located 500 - 600mm from the floor and 50 - 150mm from the right hand side. This ensures that it will not cause an obstruction when the cooker is pushed into position, by allowing a flexible connection to hang in the shape of a "U". The correct positioning also allows the cooker to be moved forward sufficiently to enable disconnection of the plug in connection. An isolation device must be fitted in the gas supply to every appliance and the plug in connector Bayonet is an accepted method of isolation. Every free standing cooker must be secured by either a Stability Bracket or a safety chain; we will re-configure pipe work to meet current regulations where necessary.
Before the gas cooker or gas hob is fitted, the gas engineer will carry out a tightness test to see if the existing gas services are sound. If the engineer finds a gas leak, this will have to be rectified before any further work can be carried out. Another gas test will be carried out after any work has been completed to make sure the new gas work and new appliances fitted are not leaking gas. We cannot fit second hand parts.
Once you have placed and completed your booking, a Croydon Gas Representative will call you to book in the visit from our Gas Safe Registered Engineer. Where possible we will try and make an appointment that suits your preferred times, when this is not possible we will work with you to get a suitable time.
